International Symposium of Coastal Engineering Geological Academic was held in Tongji University

Sponsored by International Engineering Geology and Environmental Association (IAEG) and undertook by TONGJI University as well as the China National Group of IAEG, “the International Symposium of Coastal Engineer Geology (ISCEG-Shanghai 2012)” was held in the Sino-French center of TONGJI University during the September 20 - 21, 2012. Nearly one hundred representatives from 14 countries attended this seminar, including Pro. Carlos Delgado —— the chairman of IAEG, Prof. Victor Osipov——the winner of IAEG－Hans Cloos as well as the academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Lu Yaoru from TONGJI University —— the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Huang Runqiu——the vice-chairman of IAEG Asia, Prof. Wu Faquan——the secretary-general of IAEG, Prof. Giorgio Lollino ——the chairman of IAEG Conference in 2014, Prof. Giorgio Lollino——the vice-chairman of JGS and Yao Yupeng -the section chief of China National Natural Science Funds Commission, et al. The papers of the symposium were published by Springer.

The opening ceremony of conference was hosted by Prof. Huang Yu from TONGJI University——the secretary- general of this conference organizing committee. Professor Li Yongsheng——the chairman of this conference organizing committee and former executive vice-president made the opening speech. Prof. Carlos Delgado introduced the general situation and main content of this conference, meanwhile expressed warm congratulations to the conference of “ISCEG-Shanghai 2012” held in the TONGJI University. Prof. Wu Faquan etc. attended the opening ceremony and made speeches of congratulations. Professor Yao Yupeng made a speech and he hoped that this conference could promote the cooperation and experience exchanging at home and abroad in the field of engineering geology.

During the conference, Prof. Victor Osipov made a Hans Cloos presentation, which topic was “Physico Chemical Theory of Effective Stresses in Soils”. Some professors such as Carlos Delgado, Lu Yaoru, Atsushi Yashima, Huang Runqiu, WuFaquan etc. were invited to make keynote speeches.

There were two parallel sessions in which representatives conducted group communications. About 30 scholars including Prof. Zhang Feng from Japan Nagoya University of Technology, Prof. Kiril Anguelov from Bulgaria Sofia University of Mining and Geology, Prof. Jia Yonggang from Ocean University of China, Prof. Sui Wanghua from China University of Mining and Technology etc. made reports.
